How licensing actually works
A few practical notes worth knowing before you buy:
One key, one site. Each licence key authorises one production domain. You can deactivate it from the cyberdummies.co.za My Account → Licences page if you need to migrate to a different domain — your active subscriptions and data stay intact when you reactivate on the new site.
The Pro key unlocks both plugins. When you upgrade to Pro, you don’t need to keep a separate Standard or Plus key around. The same RECPRO- key satisfies both the base ReCurr Licence page and the ReCurr Pro Licence page. (Behind the scenes, the auto-update endpoint and licence validator both treat a Pro key as authorising the base plugin too.)
Auto-updates require an active licence. Your install keeps running even if your licence lapses, but you’ll stop receiving updates until you renew. Renewing immediately re-enables updates — no plugin reinstall needed.
Upgrading is seamless. Going from Standard → Plus or Plus → Pro doesn’t require uninstalling anything. Cancel the old subscription, purchase the new tier, paste the new key on the Licence page. Your customer subscriptions and data are untouched.
Pro requires base ReCurr. ReCurr Pro is a plugin extension — it adds CRM and Affiliate features on top of base ReCurr. Both plugins must be installed and active. Pro will refuse to activate (with a clear admin notice) if base ReCurr is missing or below v2.3.0.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I try ReCurr before buying? Absolutely! ReCurr Plus and Pro offer 7 and 14-day trials respectively, so you can take your time to try out the full features, as if you have a paid license. The subscription becomes active once you click on the “magic link” – sent to you prior to the trial expiring – followed by registering your card with Payfast. ReCurr never saves card details and simply prompts Payfast to charge your card at the appropriate time.
Can I downgrade from Plus to Standard? Yes. Cancel your Plus subscription and purchase a Standard subscription instead. Plus-only features (cycle toggle, plan switching, etc.) will become locked, but your subscription data and customers are unaffected.
What happens to my data if I cancel my licence entirely? Nothing — your data stays in your WordPress database. The plugin keeps running on the version you have, but you stop receiving updates and Plus / Pro features lock if you were on those tiers. Reactivating a licence at any point restores everything.
Is the Pro plugin obfuscated or open source? ReCurr Pro is licensed under GPL v2 (as required for WooCommerce extensions) and ships as plain readable PHP. Source is auditable.
Do I need a separate licence for staging? For genuine staging environments (a copy of your live site used only for testing), you can deactivate your live key, activate it on staging to test, then move it back. We don’t currently issue separate dev keys, but contact support if you have a complex multi-environment setup and we’ll work something out.
How does PayFast Split work in Pro? PayFast Split lets you direct a portion of every transaction to a second PayFast account at payment time. Pro’s affiliate engine uses this to send the affiliate commission directly to the affiliate’s PayFast account at the moment of sale — no batch payouts to manage. Renewal commissions are paid through your normal payout run until the renewal split has been confirmed with PayFast. This requires PayFast Split to be enabled on your merchant account (free; contact PayFast support to enable).
Can I buy Pro without buying base ReCurr first? The Pro purchase includes everything — your RECPRO- key satisfies both plugins. You’ll still need to install base ReCurr first because Pro depends on it, but you don’t need separate keys.

The ReCurr family of plugins (ReCurr and ReCurr Pro) are licensed, not sold. By subscribing, downloading, installing, or using any of these plugins, you agree to be bound by the terms of this agreement.
If you do not agree to these terms, do not install or use the plugins, and contact us immediately for a refund (within 14 days of purchase).
1. Licence Grant
Subject to payment of applicable licence fees and compliance with this agreement, CyberDummies Online Solutions (PTY) Ltd. grants you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the plugin(s) covered by your purchased tier on one (1) production website.
1.1 What you CAN do
- ✓ Install the plugin(s) on one production domain
- ✓ Install on unlimited development / staging sites on the same root domain
- ✓ Use the plugin for your business or your own client projects
- ✓ Customise the plugin for your specific needs
- ✓ Receive updates while your licence is active
- ✓ Access support while your licence is active
1.2 What you CANNOT do
- ✗ Use on multiple production domains with one licence
- ✗ Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the plugin
- ✗ Share your licence key with others
- ✗ Remove or modify licensing code
- ✗ Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the plugin
- ✗ Create derivative works for distribution
- ✗ Use the plugin after your licence expires
2. Licence Scope
2.1 Domain Definition
- One licence = one production domain.
- Production domain example:

2.2 Examples

2.3 Moving Domains
You may transfer your licence to a different domain:
- First deactivate from the old domain via the plugin’s Licence settings, or via your account at cyberdummies.co.za
- Then activate on the new domain
- Only one domain can be active at a time
- Contact support if you cannot access the old domain
3. Licence Duration & Fees
3.1 Subscription Terms
- Monthly subscription fees are listed at https://cyberdummies.co.za/recurr/
- Automatic renewal each month on the same calendar day (monthly billing cycle)
- First payment: upon purchase
- Subsequent payments: monthly on the purchase-anniversary date
3.2 Payment Processing
- Processed through PayFast (South African payment gateway)
- Credit card securely tokenised
- Automatic billing each month
- Receipt emailed after each successful payment
3.3 Licence Validity
- Active as long as subscription payments are current
- The plugin functions while the licence is active
- The licence validates daily with our servers
- 7-day grace period for temporary connection issues
3.4 Failed Payments
- We retry failed payments 3 times (days 1, 3, 7)
- Email notifications are sent before each retry
- After the final failed retry: licence deactivated
- The plugin stops functioning when the licence is inactive
- Reactivates automatically when payment succeeds
4. Cancellation
4.1 How to Cancel
- Log into cyberdummies.co.za/my-account
- Go to Subscriptions
- Click Cancel Subscription
- Confirm cancellation
4.2 What Happens After Cancellation
- No further charges
- Licence remains active until the end of the current billing period
- After the period ends, the licence expires
- The plugin keeps running on the version you have, but you stop receiving updates
- All your data remains in your database (not deleted)
- You can reactivate any time by renewing the subscription
4.3 No Contracts
- Cancel any time, no questions asked
- No early-termination fees
- No minimum commitment period
5. Refund Policy
5.1 Initial Purchase
- 14-day money-back guarantee
- Full refund if requested within 14 days of first purchase

5.2 Renewal Payments
- No refunds on renewal payments
- Cancel before the renewal date to avoid charges
- The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled

6. Updates & Support

- Updates require an active licence to download / install

6.3 What’s NOT Included
- Custom development work
- Theme customisation
- Server configuration
- Third-party plugin conflicts

6.4 Support After Licence Expires
- No support for expired licences
- You must renew to receive support
- Emergency support available for an additional fee
7. Intellectual Property
7.1 Ownership
- All code, design, and functionality remain the property of CyberDummies
- No ownership rights are transferred to the licensee
- CyberDummies retains all copyright, trademark, and IP rights
7.2 Your Data
- You own all data created by the plugin (subscriptions, customer data, CRM contacts, affiliate records)
- Data is stored in your WordPress database
- We do not access or store your customer data
- You can export your data at any time
7.3 Licence Validation Data
- We store: licence key, domain, activation date, IP address
- Used only for licence validation and anti-piracy
- Not shared with third parties

8. Warranty Disclaimer
THE PLUGIN IS PROVIDED “AS IS” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
8.1 No Guarantee
- We do not guarantee the plugin will meet your specific requirements
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation
- We do not guarantee compatibility with all themes or plugins
- We do not guarantee specific results or revenue outcomes
8.2 Your Responsibility
- Test thoroughly before using in production
- Maintain backups of your website and database
- Verify compatibility with your theme and other plugins
- Monitor subscription renewals and customer communications
8.3 Known Limitations
- Requires an active internet connection for licence validation
- Requires a PayFast merchant account (not included)
- Requires an SSL certificate for secure payments
- May not work with some caching configurations
9. Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL CYBERDUMMIES ONLINE SOLUTIONS (PTY) LTD. BE LIABLE FOR:
9.1 Indirect Damages
- Lost profits or revenue
- Lost data or business interruption
- Cost of substitute products or services
- Consequential, incidental, or punitive damages
9.2 Your Responsibility
- Maintaining backups
- Testing before production use
- Monitoring subscriptions and renewals
- Compliance with payment regulations
10. Termination
10.1 Automatic Termination
- The licence terminates automatically upon non-payment
- The plugin ceases to function when the licence expires
- No notice is required for non-payment termination
10.2 Termination by CyberDummies Online Solutions (PTY) Ltd.
We may terminate the licence:
- For breach of this agreement
- For violation of terms
- For abuse or piracy attempts
- 30 days’ notice provided (except for serious violations)
10.3 Effect of Termination
- You must immediately cease using the plugin
- You must delete all copies of the plugin
- No refund for partial months
- All restrictions continue after termination
10.4 Termination by You
- Cancel the subscription at any time
- Licence remains active until end of the billing period
- No refund for unused portion of the month
11. Compliance & Restrictions
11.1 Code Integrity
- Do not modify plugin core files
- Do not remove licence-validation code
- Do not bypass or circumvent licensing checks
- “Violations of this clause may result in termination under section 10”
11.2 Licence Sharing
- Do not share licence keys
- Do not share plugin files
- Do not redistribute in any form
- Each website requires a separate licence
11.3 Reverse Engineering
- Do not decompile or reverse engineer
- Do not attempt to extract unobfuscated source code
- Do not create derivative works for distribution
- Violations may result in legal action
11.4 Resale Restrictions
- Do not resell the plugin
- Do not include in theme packages
- Do not bundle with other products

12. Privacy & Data Collection
12.1 What We Collect
While the license check only sends the KEY, DOMAIN and PRODUCT REFERENCE, it might also send and/or request the;
- IP address
- WordPress version, PHP version, plugin version
- Licence activation / deactivation events
- Licence validation checks (daily)
12.2 Why We Collect
- To verify licence validity
- To prevent piracy and unauthorised use
- To provide support
- To send important notifications
12.3 What We DON’T Collect
- Customer payment information (stored by PayFast)
- Your customer data, subscription details, CRM contacts, or affiliate records
- Personal information from your site
- Any data from your database
12.4 Data Retention
- Licence data: retained while licence active + 2 years
- Support tickets: retained for 5 years
- Deleted upon request (right to erasure)

13.1 Changes

14. Governing Law & Disputes
14.1 Jurisdiction
- This agreement is governed by the laws of South Africa
- Disputes are subject to South African courts
- Venue: Western Cape High Court, Cape Town
14.2 Dispute Resolution
- First: direct negotiation with CyberDummies Online Solutions (PTY) Ltd.
- Second: mediation (if both parties agree)
- Final: legal proceedings if necessary
14.3 No Class Actions
- Disputes are resolved individually
- No class-action lawsuits
- No jury trials
15. Miscellaneous
15.1 Entire Agreement
- This agreement constitutes the entire agreement between you and CyberDummies Online Solutions (PTY) Ltd.
- It supersedes all prior agreements or understandings
- No verbal modifications accepted
15.2 Severability
- If any provision is invalid, the others remain in effect
- Invalid provisions are replaced with valid similar provisions
15.3 Waiver
- Failure to enforce rights does not waive those rights
- Waiver must be in writing to be effective
15.4 Assignment
- You cannot assign this licence without our consent
- We may assign to affiliates or successors
15.5 Force Majeure
- Not liable for delays due to circumstances beyond our control
- Includes: natural disasters, wars, internet outages, etc.
